The Bachelors' Guide to Easier Living
- a work in progress -
Below the reader will find a brief guide that is hoped will help the Bachelor to live a much easier life.
This guide is divided into three areas, being:
The Bachelors' Home
The Bachelors' Attire
The Bachelors' Nourishment
The Bachelors' Home
Minimal furniture is by far the best option. Having too much furniture requires both a larger, and thus more expensive, living area, and much time to keep said furniture and living space clean. Both time and money are resources best used for other whoth while projects.
Always buy the best quality you can afford. The upfront cost may be more but will last longer and you will spend less in the long run.
When choosing your pad it is best to select homes with the most in-built facilities. For example, a breakfast bar in the kitchen so you some have to buy a dinning table; built-in wardrobes in the bedrooms - no wardrobes, tallboys etc. and plenty of storage cupboards to reduce visual clutter.
It nearly goes without saying that keeping you home clean and tidy is good idea and doing many small quick cleans over time prevents the need for the inevitable large and timely clean-up.
The Bachelors' Attire
Like the Bachelors' Home to is optimal to minimise the number of clothes you have. The more clothes you have, the more things you need to wash and clean, and, ergo, the more of your precious time and resources are consumed.
It is suggested, not including the clothes you may need for work, that to minimise the number of cloths you own and purchase items that match more than one thing. Yes, you may need to ask for the assistance of either a female sibling, friend, or shop assistant to help you. Enough to last say one and a half weeks before a need to wash should be enough - after all your a bloke and being seen wearing the same things will not result in you suffering a social death as may be the fate if you were a woman.
The second is to look for clothes, especially shirts, that do not need ironing (as ironing also takes up your time unnecessarily).
On a side note, but still related, the nice, clean and fresh clothes can be all for nought if your natural odour and breath makes people want to dry reach.
The Bachelors' Nourishment
We all need healthy food to stay on top of things and there are four things to consider when preparing your sustenance:
1) When preparing a meal, and especially when cooking, think of ways that you can combine various separate ingredients but using the one saucepan or frying pan. You can also eat out of it which further limits the number of things that you need to wash up.
2) Think about cooking a large meal that you can have have enough left over that you can package up and reheat over the next 3-5 days allowing you to save much time and washing up.
3) If you decide to cook look to meals that require the fewest ingredients as possible and the simplest instructions. Don't waste your time and money on meals that require dozens of ingredients, several expensive appliances and time cleaning up. You do have a life don't you?
4) A barbecue is an absolute necessity. It is just so easy, when you have some friends over, to BBQ some meat, have a few drinks, chat and have a good time. Lets face it, you don't make friends with salad.
